Self Assessment - Required Information
If you would like to instruct us to help with the preparation of your self assessment please ensure your provide us with all relevant information as outlined belo
If you have not completed a self assessment before you will need to request a Unique Tax Reference Number (UTR) from HMRC first.
Details we require to begin the Self Assessment process:
- Your UTR Number, NI number, Full Name and Address
- Copy of Tax return request letter from HMRC (if possible)
- Copy of last year's Self Assessment (if one was completed)
- If you run a self employed business: A quick summary of your business (for our background understanding only) and your summary of income and expenditure for this business (in excel)
- P60s, P45s and P11Ds from any PAYE income in the year
- Details of bank interest income (usually easily found on internet banking).
- Details of any benefits received (Child Benefits, Job seekers etc).
- Details of any pension income or personal pension contributions made
- Rental income and expenses (Mortgage payment expenses only include the interest element), and details of who ones the property
- Details of any other taxable income we should take into account (investments / capital gains / redundancy payments etc)
- Gift aid donations if you are a higher rate tax payer.
Some of the above may prompt additional questions.
ID Check
Please also email in a recent bank statement showing your current address and a photo of your driving licence or passport (for required ID checks).
